Interfreight is one of the leaders in the freight market of Ukraine. The company has a many years’ experience, a team of professional staff and its own unique know-how in the field of transportation. Currently the most relevant business area is transportation of oversized cargo.

We are talking with Tatyana Pushkina, the founder and CEO of the company, about the history, business areas and prospects of Interfreight.

- Tatyana, your company is now well-known in the market. Tell us how everything began.

- Yes, we can say that now we are known and cooperated by partners all over the world. However, we started, like many others, quite modestly. While studying at the University, I wondered what I would like to do and finally I realized that I wanted to work in an environment full of communication. Moreover, being an engineer I wanted to carry out important projects and earn money with my own mind. As it happened, in late '90s I met people who ran a business – they provided dispatcher services, i.e. they looked for cargo to carry. This topic seemed to me very relevant and interesting, especially because we had already owned the transport for which it was necessary to search cargo.

- And you immediately broke into oversized cargo, didn’t you?

- No, at first there were standard transportations, and the competition in this business was quite high, but exactly this time occurred to be very useful and productive. You know, the competition always boosts and makes create something new. Thus when in 2001 they began to build a network of filling stations in Ukraine, and it became necessary to transfer storage tanks for petroleum products, I realized that it was precisely the area of transportation that needed to be developed. Then our company carried out the transportation of such tanks with our own transport in more than 30 regions of Ukraine. Thus began oversized cargo.

- What are the main principles of your company?

- In our work the most important thing for us is the efficiency in execution of orders, i.e. the ability to provide a car "today for today". For some customers it is the main reason why they deal only with us. We have a huge database of carriers for freight. With our partners we have long-term close business relationship and serious joint developments. All these facts allow us to work efficiently and qualitatively.

- Can you give any examples, maybe even a special case from your work, where you have shown the wonders of efficiency?

- I remember such a case: we had to carry an oversized cargo – an aircraft mockup - from Nikolaev to Norway. We had already provided a car, executed all the necessary documents (it is a long process, by the way) when all of a sudden the driver who was to carry the load was down with the flu and fever (it was winter) in a foreign country. Just in 30 minutes we found another car and provided it to be charged.

- And what other non-standard cargo have you carried?

- The list is very long, but if we talk about the most interesting oversized loads then they are drilling units for oil companies, army helicopters decommissioned by NATO which we transported from the UK to Ukraine. As you can see, oversized loads can be very different.

- How does your working experience help you?

- It allows anticipating and predicting the events. It is already known how and what to build in the management of transportation in order to make it a pleasure for the customer. There is the only unalterable rule in our company: “The client must be 100% satisfied with the result for which he pays.”

- Are you really fully responsible for the delivery of cargo?

- Yes, we are fully responsible for the cargo and for the actions of the subcontractors as for our own actions. The above is true for all the orders carried out by our company. Our responsibility to any task is very high and the whole team of Interfreight works only in such a way: Responsibly, Diligently, and Carefully. The work of our team can be described with a Benjamin Franklin’s quote: “The used key is always bright.”

- Tatyana, you guarantee high quality of services, but are there any force-majeure circumstances?

- Of course, there are. But I have a strong belief that “there are no issues that can’t be solved. If you have a desire and an aspiration to solve the problem, the solution is always there!” This postulate is proved by me personally. Actually, the quality of the service greatly depends on the accuracy of the task. This is a recipe for success and qualitative result. For example, if a customer says that on a specific day the car with the cargo should be at 2 p.m. in a designated location, it will be there. This is strictly enforced. Therefore, the Customer must understand exactly that he needs just such a result. So as not to miss all the important details by the Customer, we have made a list of questions for a client and called the document as "Application for cargo transportation." If a Customer is as accurate in his responses as possible, he will get the result he needs. Thus, there is a high optimization of time and actions, as well as their complete control! If a Customer is satisfied – we are satisfied as well.

- Tell us about the company's plans for the future?

- Our goal is to develop the direction of oversized carriage along with the international transportation of standard cargo. Not every company can undertake the organization of such complex processes, and we have already had a great experience and a vision for the future. In addition, our business is expanding, clients have new requirements and we are always interested to solve new nonstandard logistic tasks. This means that we will continue developing the company in the direction of the effective interaction with customers.

- If you talk about other companies what do you think about the competition?

- Great! The presence of competition entails development. In a matter of fact, I once came across one wise saying: “The Art of the victory over a competitor is to amaze him in what he is better.”

- You can state that you have a successful company, can’t you?

- Of course! And it's not just my opinion. This is evidenced by long-term partnerships with our customers! To be successful doesn’t mean to do something exceptional. This means that you need to do the things everyone does, but exceptionally well. That’s what we do: provide high quality services in the field of global freight forwarding. This allows us to be successful. And primarily – to help our customers be successful!

- Thank you for such an interesting conversation, Tatyana. Wish you and your customers lots of success and prosperity!
