An international event called “Maritime Days in Odessa 2012” was held from 31 May up to 2 June 2012 in Odessa. As a part of the Maritime Days in Odessa 2012 there was the annual international conference “Practice of Maritime Business. Project Cargo Black Sea 2012”.
The conference “Practice of Maritime Business” is a well-known event among the players of the sea transportation market in the Black Sea region, Ukraine and abroad, and for seven years successfully has been held in Odessa by “International Law Offices”. The highlight of the year was project cargo. The conference gathered more than 150 delegates from 10 countries of the world. Primarily they were enterprises of transport and logistics sector, cargo owners, shipowners, forwarders, shipbrokers, insurers, carriers, ports and terminals. The conference participants discussed the most relevant issues to the maritime industry and determined appropriate solutions.
We could not miss the event of such a level, because project cargo transportation, as well as the transportation of oversized and heavy cargo, is a primary focus of our company. Therefore, at the conference Interfreight was represented by the company’s shareholder Tatyana Pushkina.
A subject of Tatyana’s report is “Designing of oversized cargo handling.” The report is based solely on the practical experience of Interfreight and confirms the principle “Nothing is impossible” that guides the company’s logistics specialists while oversized cargo handling. While reporting Tatyana has showed participants the process of organizing transportations of oversized and heavy cargoes, namely, specially configured software which controls the planning and preparation processes of project cargo in Interfreight. It should be noted that it is absolutely an innovative approach in handling oversized cargo, which includes the use of virtual models of objects and situations, the use of electronic transport drawings that allow you to simulate a load on the computer screen, to select an appropriate semitrailer truck and to present a real three-dimensional scheme of centrally loaded semitrailer truck with axial loads. Also during preparation of the project they use area sketches, e-maps with fixed limits which may affect the transportation route, a geographic information system, and our own vector map of roads in Ukraine, which can simulate the route of a truck on the road accurate to thousandths of a degree. In this case it takes no more than one hour to plan a project.
Modern IT technologies have contributed to the oversized cargo handling in Interfreight. Projects are created faster, become more safely and easier to understand, and this is particularly important, because for project implementation it is necessary to involve specialists of various profiles and qualifications. Organization of cargo handling in our company allows combining the efforts; therefore, having a smoothly running interaction system we have advantages in efficiency and quality of services.
Summarizing the results of the Conference “Practice of maritime business”, it may surely be said that this is a unique platform for sharing experience and establishing new business contacts, as well as the development of well-organized and embodied logistics export of project, oversized and heavy cargo.
